Class Description

Dear Students and Families,

It is hard to believe that the summer is already drawing to a close and the beginning of the school year is just around the corner. We are in the final stages of preparing for the upcoming school year. We expect it to be a great one! I am looking forward to working with you and your child in reaching his or her full potential. We will have many wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead.

I believe that communication is the key to a great family-teacher relationship. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can send me a note, email me at chodson@middletowncityschools.com or call me at (513)312-4277. I will also do my part by updating our classroom page on what we have been doing in class as well as things that are coming up. For individual concerns, I will contact you by phone, send a note home, or email you (if an email address is provided).

Curriculum areas we will focus on this year include researching America's past, Ancient Civilizations, unleashing the writer within you and opening new worlds through reading different genres.

Students are asked to bring the following supplies to school by the first day, August 18th, 2010. Please see the supply list attached to this letter.

Here at Central students are encouraged to take work home when required for completion. Students will have deadlines for assignments and group projects. Please check our classroom page for due dates and upcoming events.

Upcoming school events you should be aware of include: our first Town Hall Meeting on August 19th and the Family Cookout on September 2nd, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. Please mark those dates on your calendar. Studies show that parental involvement in a child's education is one of the strongest indicators of student achievement. I hope you will make it a priority this year to attend as many school-sponsored events as possible.

Once again, welcome to a new school year. Let's work together to make this the best year ever!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Cathie Hodson
