Mission
The mission of the Middletown City Schools is to provide our culturally diverse students with highly-challenging and engaging school work, which assists them in gaining valued knowledge and skills. We will continue to operate the district in a fiscally responsible manner with a priority of student achievement.

Miami University Partnership (Click for Testimonials)

In the spring of 2004, Miami University Partnership Office asked Central Academy to become a partner school. Through this partnership, Central Academy has agreed to help:

  • foster in the nation's young the skills, dispositions, and knowledge necessary for effective participation in a social and political democracy;
  • ensure that the young have access to those understandings and skills required for satisfying and responsible lives;
  • help to develop educators who nurture the well-being of every student; and
  • ensure educators' competence in and commitment to serving as stewards of schools.

The partnership has sponsored and nurtured on-site professional development for Central teachers, collaboration with the Miami's Student Teaching office, who regularly place promising students at Central as observers and interns (student teachers), travel for Central teachers to national and regional meetings of the League of Democratic Schools (LODS), on-site visits from other universities and schools in the Eastern Region of LODS, and a rich professional conversation between the university, staff, and students at Central Academy.

League of Democratic Schools

Founded by educational expert and author Dr. John Goodlad, this is a national organization of schools and universities who promote the development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are required for successful participation in our nation's social and political democracy. The organization is based in Seattle, Washington and also has regional components throughout the country.
