Dear Parents:

Our last day of school will be on Monday, May 24. This has been a wonderful school year. I will miss the students during the next couple of months. I am sure the time will go fast and then we will wonder where the time has gone! On the back of this newsletter I have listed a few important dates for next school year that you may want to mark on your calendar through January 5, 2011. Please note that these dates are subject to change.

The Miller Ridge community will be losing a number of very valuable staff members due to retirement or resignations. This group will take away with them over 180 years of educational experiences. I want to thank all of them for the love and care they have given to every student over the years. Retiring are: Jeannine Williams, Paula Elliott, Glenda Brandenburg, Edrena Jones, and Shirley Selby. Leaving the building or district: Linda Nerenberg, Susan Voyles, Christina Limes, Sarah Martin, and Molli Halcomb. We wish each of these educators the best of luck in their new endeavors.
We want to welcome the following new staff members: Toni Truster, Grade 3; Sheila Hawkins, Grade 2; Nicole Kidd, Kindergarten; and Becky Hackney, Kindergarten.

Uniforms are required at Miller Ridge. To opt out you must request a form in early August.

I have a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase at $15. Please call the office if you want one.

The PTO has been a very valuable resource for us all year. Without their support, we would not be able to do so many educational things with the students. Over the summer months, you can help by collecting various items, such as Campbell Soup labels and Box Tops, to be turned in next fall. A flyer will come home with students giving details. The PTO has also purchased some Miller Ridge lanyards. They are not only great for carrying your keys or an ID Badge, but they also hold an I-Pod or cell phone. These are on sale for $6. If you purchase items at GFS, please mention our school. Your purchase will go towards the school as a fund raiser.
