The Middletown Girls Varsity Bowling team had their first match of the season today at Eastern Lanes, taking on one of the best girls team in the GMC, Lakota West.

For those of you new to high school bowling, head-to-head matches consist of 2 regular games and 2-4 Baker games, depending on time restrictions at the bowling alley. Today, the match was 2 games and 3 Bakers.

The girls team only has 1 returning bowler and 5 brand new bowlers. Leading the Middies was Junior Emma Kruse, who had a very good day, shooting a 157 for game 1 and an amazing 199 for game 2! Way to go Emma! Following her was Sophomore Kaitlyn Kincer, throwing games of 138 & 120! Good job! Sophomore Braelyn Bates rolled a 126 and a 110 for her set! Senior Harley Bailey started off with a 75, and finished with a 108. Freshmen Isabella Bryant-Thomas bowled a 55 & Allison Pritchard had a 54.

The team was down 357 going into the Baker round, so it was a big hill to climb to get back in the match. A Baker game is where 5 bowlers take turns alternating each frame to build 1 score, so player #1 will bowl frame 1 and frame 6, player #2 will bowl frame 2 and frame 7, and so on.

The team started off strong by putting together a good 1st game score of 143, but then fell sharply for games 2 & 3, shooting a 101 and 103 respectively. They ended up losing the match by 418 pins. Keep your heads up ladies! It was only the first match and you'll do better next time!

The Lady Middies will travel to Pohlman Lanes on Friday to take on Hamilton at 4pm. Every family member, friends, teachers, anybody are more than welcome to come out and cheer during any of our home or away matches! We would love to see you there!

GO MIDDIES!
