The Middletown Boys Varsity Bowling team defeated Lakota West in their first match of the season today at Eastern Lanes, BY ONLY 14 pins!

This match was a nail biter from start to finish, and it came down to the final 2 Baker games to determine the winner!

For those of you new to high school bowling, head-to-head matches consist of 2 regular games and 2-4 Baker games, depending on time restrictions at the bowling alley. Today, the match was 2 games and 4 Bakers.

High roller for the team was Junior Riley Pritchard, throwing 2 great games of 208 & 201! Awesome job Riley! Senior Eddie Pritchard also started off strong when he tossed a very nice 203 game, then had a 138 for game 2! Not too far behind him was Sophomore Harlynn Davis, who bowled a 141 for game #1, but came back firing with a great score of 185! Just 5 pins back was his teammate Freshman Ben Bales, who crushed the pocket to start his set with a 197, then bowled a 124! Sophomore Brent Shaw helped his team out with his 137, and Junior Ethan Isaac had a 135.

After the 2 regular games, the boys were down by just 42 pins! With 4 Baker games to follow, the team knew that they were not out of it yet! The Middies shot a 183 vs the Firebirds' 141, and then a 185 to their 213. This brought the deficit down to only 28 pins! In game #3, their opponent extended their lead by throwing a 197 to our 162, but then the Middies started off the last game with the first 5 strikes in a row and finished with a very nice 203, while Lakota West rolled a 126, giving the Middies the win by ONLY 14 pins! What a comeback!

The team will face Hamilton in an away match at Pohlman Lanes in Hamilton on Friday. Start time will be approximately at 4:00pm. Every family member, friends, teachers, anybody are more than welcome to come out and cheer during any of our home or away matches! We would love to see you there!
